Year 2016 is a highly awaited. It seems to be the year when the competition between auto manufacturers will go off the chain. BMW is gearing up to deliver nothing but the best quality with the 2016 BMW X1. The 2016 BMW X1 is set to be a head-turner with its looks, jaw-dropper with its performance and neck-breaker with its speed. Auto fans are anxiously awaiting the arrival of this beemer. What does it have to offer?
2016 BMW X1 redesign
The 2016 BMW X1 is set to be more evolutionary than revolutionary. Although it borrows a few cues from the slightly larger BMW X5, it still manages to maintain its unique look. With that said, auto enthusiasts can expect a front fascia that will be featuring the characteristic BMW kidney grille but slightly wider. There headlamps are slightly reshaped and of course LED. The bumper intake configuration is set to be unapologetic- or so the rumors say. The taillights appear to be slightly smoother around the edges with a faintly revised bumper section and tailgate. There are no major improvements on the back really. The trademark line that run across the doors and up towards the rear fenders is present but now it stretches all the way to the taillights.
The interior of the 2016 BMW X1 is roomier. The main display is also larger as is the area behind the gear shift which has been redesigned to include a larger storage box. The layout of dashboard remains largely unchanged though.
2016 BMW X1 engine
Being BMW’s smallest crossover, the 2016 X1 will be receiving three engines with power outputs in the bracket of 136 and 300 horsepower. There is the 1.5 liter 3-cylinder will be at the bottom of the range that includes a 2.0 liter four-cylinder and the familiar 3.0 liter. The chances of a plug-in hybrid are very high. The European market will be receiving a diesel version of 2016 BMW X1 for the 2.0 liter four-banger.
The six-speed manual transmission is said to be joined by an 8 speed automatic transmission as well. It is also worth mentioning that the X1 will be using BMW’s UKL front-wheel-drive platform. This however does not apply to all versions of the SUV.
2016 BMW X1 price and release date
The 2016 BMW X1 is expected to be unveiled in late 2015 but it may not be until the early summer of 2016 that it will hit the markets all over the world. The price of 2016 X1 will probably stick closer to that of the current 2015 model and start from around $31,200.
